“I’ve been blessed with good friends
in my life,” says Janet. “And I wanted to share
some of those friendship feelings in the series of novels I am
writing about a group of young cancer survivors who have met
weekly for years. They call themselves The Sisterhood
of the Dropped Stitches.”
“I wanted to show how important friendship is when sickness
is involved,” Janet says. “I also wanted to
show the rewards of long, steady friendships. Marilee,
Carly, Becca, and Lisabett are friends we would all like to have
in our lives.”
The novels take place in Pasadena, California which is where
Janet currently lives.
“I like the Old Town part of Pasadena,” Janet says. “It
has become very cosmopolitan over the last years with almost
a New York look to it. That’s why it was the perfect
setting for The Pews (the diner where The Sisterhood meets). Great
food just always seems to go with great friendship.”
The story of the Sisterhood will be told in four novels, Marilee
is first in “The Sisterhood of the Dropped Stitches” (February
2007), Carly comes second in “A Dropped Stitches Christmas” (December
2007), and Becca and Lizabett will have their turn, likely in
2008. |
